A Homeland Street man had 88 folders of heroin in his possession when his car was stopped by police Tuesday near Stratfield School, according to the police report.
Salman J. Sumra, 29, was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.
An investigation into Sumra's drug activity began last month after police received a tip that he was selling heroin, according to the report. Police obtained a search warrant for Sumra's car and when officers spotted him around 5 p.m. Tuesday, he was pulled over on Fairfield Woods Road, near Melville Avenue.
A plastic bag containing the heroin, packaged for sale, was found in a pant's pocket, police said. Sumra was currently on probation after being convicted in January of this year for possession of narcotics with intent to sell, police said.
He was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 16 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
