Carrie Ferrante, a graduate of Fairfield Warde High School, won a film award recently at the Catskill Mountains Festival. Ferrante was the winner of the College Narrative Feature category for "Us & Them," a film she wrote and directed.

"Us and Them," her college senior thesis film, also won awards at the Long Island Film Expo, the Silent River Film Festival, the Naperville Independent Film Festival, the Honolulu Film Awards, the Indiefest and the Maverick Film Awards. The latest award for the film was presented on May 3.

The film explores the complex friendship of a fledgling high school teacher and his troubled female student. It was produced by the Majors, an independent filmmaking company founded by Ferrante and four college classmates from the Film School at Long Island University, C.W. Post. Ferrante is a 2012 graduate of C.W. Post, and attended Fairfield schools.
