A sale of chrysanthemums is planned to benefit the Fairfield Senior Center and its programs.

Advance orders for the plant sale, sponsored by the Fairfield Senior Citizen Association, will be accepted Sept. 2 to 12 at the center, 100 Mona Terrace, during the regular hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $6 per plant; they will be sold in assorted colors in 8-inch pots. Cash and checks will be accepted.

People who have ordered and paid for the plants can pick up their mums on Sept. 19 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the center.

"It is our hope that the public will embrace this project and help us raise funds for the center's programming," Rick DeAngelis, association president, said in a statement.

The mums also will be sold Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sherman Green gazebo, corner of Post and Reef roads.

They will also be on sale Sept. 20 during the Day in the Sun event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the senior center. A Day in the Sun is an annual event for people with special needs to have a picnic, play games and socialize. The Fairfield Senior Center, for the first time, is hosting the event.

Cathy Rotanz, volunteer coordinator, is recruiting volunteers for the sale sites. To volunteer, call 203-256-3166.
