SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Officials with New Mexico's commuter rail line are warning passengers about changes in the schedule for afternoon service following a fatality on the tracks early Monday.

State police have cleared the scene where a northbound Rail Runner Express train struck a person on tribal land about 35 miles north of Albuquerque. Authorities are continuing their investigation, but the incident resulted in major delays and forced the cancellation of most morning trains.

Officials say they have decided to consolidate service and run only the last three evening trains south out of Santa Fe. They say no northbound trains will be affected for the afternoon commute.
