A public meeting on the state's new Shore Up CT loan program is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road.
Funded through the state Department of Housing, the program will provide low-interest financing for property owners who want to finance or refinance property elevations. The property must be in coastal communities in the VE and AE flood zones as defined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Flood Insurance Program.
Representatives from the Housing Development Fund will be on hand to provide information about the program's goals, clarify project requirements and guidelines and answer questions.
"In an effort to keep our beach area residents informed on programs that could help them be proactive in alleviating or preventing damage from potential future storms, I encourage our beach area residents to join me at this important meeting to learn more about the state's low-interest loan program," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said.
Tetreau also reminded residents that the Fairfield Storm Sandy Relief Fund is still accepting applications for assistance.
