Neither a drop of rain nor a flake of snow had fallen in southwestern Connecticut as of 6 a.m. today, but Metro-North Commuter Railroad is already warning passengers to "anticipate possible delays and service disruptions" because of the anticipated storm later today and tomorrow.

The railroad, which was battered by last winter's series of severe storms, apparently wants riders to be prepared for more of the same this year with the expected arrival of wind-whipped rain -- and likely snow -- across the region this Halloween weekend.

Metro-North advises riders to contact its new information phone line, "511," or check the website, www.mta.info for information updates before traveling.
