For 34 years, parishioners of St. Anthony's of Padua Church and their friends have celebrated summer with a picnic featuring a vast menu with treats appealing to all kinds of tastes, including specialties reflecting the parish's Polish heritage.

The edible offerings at the Sunday afternoon event ran the gamut from homemade ethnic foods like pierogies to grilled fare like hotdogs, hamburgers and sausages. There also was boiled lobsters, with corn on the side.

Even youngsters like Sarah Magee and Daniel Mishaud, decked out in plastic bibs, enjoyed the crustaceons.

The event also featured games and crafts, a plant sale and an auction featuring goods and services donated by local businesses.

Sara Camarro of Fairfield took the picnic theme of the event to heart, spreading out lunch on the grass with her two sons.

Providing a musical backdrop was the Stan Scott Band from Middlefield, playing a selection of swing favorites for the sixth consecutive year at the parish picnic.
