It was the last dance — for this summer, anyway — as a crowd turned out for fun and food Thursday evening at the final Sand Jam party of the season at Jennings Beach.

As usual, there was dancing followed by a movie to close out the Parks and Recreation Department event.

The sandy expanse in front of the pavilion at Jennings quickly filled up as disk jockey Marvin Parsons got the music and dancing going.

Then, as the sun set and the crowd gathered for movie time, another event of note loomed just over the horizon: the first day of a new school year just a couple of weeks away.
