Old Navy and Einstein Bros. Bagels will host a "Fun in the Sun" fundraiser for Samantha Strelzer, a Fairfield eighth-grader selected to represent Fairfield as a People To People Student Ambassador Sunday, May 20, in the Old Navy Shopping Plaza, 2215 Black Rock Turnpike.
The event, to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will also be held to support her toiletry drive to benefit Operation Hope, a homeless shelter in downtown Fairfield.
Strelzer will represent Connecticut and the United States in Europe this summer with the People To People educational and goodwill program.
As a People To People Student Ambassador, her purpose will be to help realize President Eisenhower's goal to spread goodwill and peace from the United States to countries around the world, according to a program news release.
The event will include a raffle offering an Antigua vacation as grand prize and other items; food; free Kung Fu lessons; and members of the Fairfield Fire Department with a fire truck to teach kids summer safety tips.
Persons who buy a raffle ticket, at $1 each or $5 for 10, or donate a toiletry item will receive shopping coupons to Old Navy and Children's Place.
Anyone interested in participating in the raffle but cannot attend may contact P2PCT2012@gmail.com. Admission to the event is free.
