Two teenage girls were charged with breach of peace Tuesday morning after they fought in the shoe department of Marshall's, 700 Post Road.

Store employees and customers flocked to the shoe department after overhearing screaming there around 11 a.m., police said, where the 13-year-old girls were slapping and shoving each other.

When police arrived, the girls reportedly refused to speak. One simply wouldn't talk, police said, while the other refused to stop texting on her cell phone. The arresting officer described their behavior as "poor and unacceptable."

The girls are residents of Orange and were released into their grandmother's custody on a promise to appear in juvenile court July 15, police said.
