Author Adam Gidwitz will put some grimness into the Grimm Brothers' tales during an appearance at the Fairfield Public Library's main branch on Thursday, Nov. 29.

In a 6:30 p.m. appearance in the Children's Room, Gidwitz will retell some of the 200-year-old tales with his own humorous, but sometimes terrifying and grisly, twists. The program is free, but advance registration is required.

Gidwitz is the author of "A Tale Dark and Grimm," a New York Times best-seller in which Hansel and Gretel take on a new adventure that weaves together several Grimm Brothers' tales. In his more recent book, "In a Glass Grimmly," Jack and Jill lead the way with more delights and scares in fairytale land. Both books will be available for purchase and signing.
