Braving a chilly Sunday evening, a small group came together to celebrate Hanukkah with the lighting of a menorah on Sherman Green.

Led by Rabbi Israel Stock and sponsored by Mishkan Israel Day Camp, the Festival of Lights ceremony also featured traditional Jewish songs and refreshments.

First Selectman Michael Tetreau told the gathering, "This country was founded on religious freedom. Thank you for sharing your traditions with us."

The camp, based in Trumbull, offers summer programs that include field trips, athletics, swimming, computers, crafts and drama. It has sponsored menorah lightings at communities throughout the region for years.
