FAIRFIELD — A workshop on personal safety, “Safeguard Yourself,” will be co-sponsored Tuesday by the PTAs at Fairfield Ludlowe and Fairfield Warde high schools.

The program is set from 7 to 9 p.m. in the small gymnasium of Fairfield Ludlowe, 785 Unquowa Road.

The workshop will be run by husband and wife Jerry and Nancy Simon, 7th-degree black belts and founders of the Villari Studio of Self-Defense in Fairfield. Nancy Simon also has a master’s degree in criminal justice and has managed security for hotels.

The workshop will have two 45-minute segments:

• Part 1, from 7-7:45 p.m., will focus on safety tips for daily life, according to PTA publicity for the event. A hands-on experience, it is designed for families with children from middle school up to college.

• Part 2, from 8-8:45 p.m., will cover issues of assertiveness training and strategies for rape/assault prevention, the plannes said. The program is geared to high school juniors and seniors entering college, as well as college students.

Those attending are advised to wear comfortable clothes for the participatory program.
