Two holiday programs for children will be offered the first weekend in December at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

The Hampstead Players' adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Christmas Carol" will be performed on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. In the classic tale, miser Ebenezer Scrooge learns the true meaning of the holiday through visits from spirits

The library recommends the program for children ages 6 and up accompanied by an adult.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, the woodwind quintet Prevailing Winds will give a holiday concert at 3 p.m. Planned selections include music from "The Nutcracker Suite," "Babes in Toyland," Christmas and Hanukkah melodies and marches, including a John Philip Sousa number.

The library recommends the program for children ages 3 to 10 accompanied by an adult.
