FAIRFIELD — Saturday’s surprise snowfall kept things moving pretty slow throughout Fairfield, but over at H. Smith Richardson Golf Course a few cold-weather adventurers took to the ice and snow, respectively, for some action.

“This place is epic,” declared Nate Bass, 14, of Easton, who was among a group sledding the snow-covered slopes of the course. “You don’t get snow-plowed here like you usually do.”

Meanwhile, for the first year Kieran’s Place created a free rink outside the restaurant that people are invited to visit on weekends throughout the winter.

“There’s nothing else to do in the winter,” owner Kieran McAlinden said, noting that free skating lessons are available for those who stop by.
