FAIRFIELD — Keeping memories of loved ones alive, and hoping to raise awareness, the second annual Walk Like MADD event was held Saturday morning in Fairfield.

The three-mile walk, which included more than 200 people representing loved ones who were lost to drunk driving, was held at the Fairfield Theatre Company, and follow to the beach and back.

“The purpose is to raise public awareness about the crime of drunk driving,” said Janice Heggie Margolies, executive director of MADD Connecticut.

“We take Driving Under the Influence very seriously in Fairfield,” Police Chief Gary MacNamara, who was among the officials present, told the crowd. “We look to prevent it.”
