FAIRFIELD — “This is our way of connecting with the future of our classical music audience,” explained Caitlin Daly, education director for the New Haven Orchestra.

The group visited the Fairfield Public Library Saturday to gives kids a chance to try a variety of horns and strings firsthand, as well as read a rendition of the children’s book “Mole Music” complete with solo violin interludes by musician Yaroslav Kargin.

“When I was in preschool and I first heard music,” he told visitors, “I thought it was magical,” hoping to pass on that experience.
