JOSEPH J. ENNIS

Joseph J. Ennis, 82, of Fairfield and formerly of Greenwich and Stuart, Fla., husband of the late Catherine V. Ennis, died Feb. 20, 2010.

Born in Port Chester, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Margaret Ennis, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II.

Ennis was a sheet metal worker and a self-employed roofer throughout Fairfield County. He had a lifelong love of sports, particularly baseball. He was active for many years with the Greenwich Junior Babe Ruth League and was a founding father of the Greenwich Senior Babe Ruth League.

He is survived by his children, Mark Ennis and his wife, Linda of Fairfield, and Sandi Brucato and her husband, Rudy of Westport; his grandchildren, Emily Brucato of Manhattan and Matthew Brucato of Stamford; his brother, Ronald Ennis and his wife, Mary of Guilford; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Ennis, and sister, Dorothy Mynarski.

A private funeral and burial will be held with his family. A celebration of life service for family and friends will take place at a date to be determined.
