Henry C. Reid & Son Jewelers, of Fairfield and New Canaan, are collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries in the wake of Hurricane Sandy's arrival last Monday.

The items will be donated to Operation Hope, a homeless shelter in downtown Fairfield that needs to restock its pantry following Sandy, according to a release.

People may drop off goods at its Fairfield store, 1591 Post Road, during regular business hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Items needed include: peanut butter and jelly; macaroni and cheese; canned tuna, meats and stews; cereal; instant and hot cereals; coffee; canned fruit and other nonperishable and canned goods.

Toiletries such as baby diapers, feminine products, shampoo, soap, deodorant, razors and shaving cream are also needed.

For information, call Greg at 203-255-0447.
