There was plenty of green in evidence Saturday as the Fairfield Public Library hosted a tuneful welcome to the St. Patrick's Day holiday.

The Kerry Boys were booked for the a performance of traditional Irish music for the occasion.

Pierce Campbell, on guitar, and Paul Neri, on banjo, held forth with Gaelic style before an appreciative crowd. Neri was a stand-in for Mark James, who along with Campbell formed The Kerry Boys 25 years ago. James, however, has been battling leukemia for the past two years. James hails from County Kerry, Ireland, which inspired the name of the group.

The duo has produced four CDs over the span, the latest, titled "KB4," released in 2010.
