The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company is celebrating its 45th anniversary in a performance at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4. Following the performance, there will be a discussion with Artistic Director Lar Lubovitch.

Founded by Lubovitch in 1968, the New York City-based company has created more than 100 new dances and performed throughout the U.S.and in more than 30 countries. It is known for its radiant, highly technical choreography and deeply humanistic voice.

Lubovitch is one of America's most versatile and widely seen choreographers and his dances have been performed by major companies throughout the world. Lubovitch has also made a notable contribution to choreography in the field of ice-dancing, having created dances for Olympic skaters, including Dorothy Hamill, Peggy Fleming, Brian Orser and JoJo Starbuck. His work on Broadway includes "Into the Woods," and the Tony Award-winning revival of "The King and I."
