Toni Boucher deserves to be re-elected to the state Senate to continue the great work she is doing in Hartford on our behalf. Political wisdom has it that you should run on your record if you've got a record of real accomplishment, and Toni Boucher has just that kind of record.
While we as a town are grappling with our own fiscal issues and trying to act responsibly, Toni Boucher is doing the same battle in Hartford with regard to the state's runaway spending and appetite for debt that Connecticut can't afford to service. Toni is also a proven leader on statewide issues such as education, where, as the ranking member of the Senate's Education Committee, she continues to drive Connecticut's efforts to improve public education while introducing rigorous standards and accountability. Boucher is also leading the charge to have Gov. Malloy suspend Connecticut's early release program, which allows criminals who have committed violent crimes such as rape, arson, kidnapping or sexual molestation of a child under 13 out of jail well before they have served the sentences that were imposed on them by the court.
She's smart, sharp and gets the job done, and she's hardworking. Even though I have personally seen her participating at many local events at all hours of the day and night, Sen. Boucher also has a very strong attendance and voting record in Hartford -- 100 percent for 2009-2010, in fact. While I thought I knew how hard-working she is, I was surprised to learn, after a quick check of the record, that Toni Boucher introduced 53 bills in 2012 alone. Wow. And these are on the issues that matter to us.
Toni Boucher has a strong record of hard work and accomplishment, rather than just promises of what she might hope to achieve. She has done so much for our individual towns, our sistrict and the state. Toni Boucher deserves to be re-elected as our state senator, and I urge everyone to join me in voting for her.
