I have known Doug Jones for more than 10 years and believe he is an excellent choice to represent District 4 on Fairfield's RTM. He is very thoughtful, intelligent and approachable. I believe he would always do what is best for our town, regardless of partisanship. Doug would be able to hit the ground running, as he was an elected RTM representative from 2001 to 2007, including three terms on the RTM's finance subcommittee.
In 2006, as RTM majority leader, he helped forge the compromise that restored $385,000 to the education budget. A year later, he proposed a modest cut to the education budget because he felt it was appropriate. Doug understands that there are usually no easy answers; "robotic" ideological voting is rarely the best approach for a complex town like Fairfield. The best decisions usually require careful study, an open mind, balanced analysis and, often, compromise.
Doug has volunteered his time to be a member of the Fairfield Warde Roof Building Committee, the Fairfield Conservation Commission, and the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency. Doug is a member of the Planning and Execution Team for "Chowdafest," a CT Foodbank fundraiser at Harbor Yard that attracts thousands of people for a great cause.
I am confident that, if elected, Doug Jones would listen carefully to the concerns of all District 4 constituents and work tirelessly to represent us on the RTM.
