I am writing to encourage all Fairfield residents to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Many expect voter turnout to be lower than normal. However, this election is important, as its outcomes will affect significant policy.
In 2013, Democrats proposed and presented a plan that would increase taxes by 6.4 percent. Board of Finance and RTM Republicans rightfully opposed. As a result of Republican efforts and the resulting bipartisan negotiations, the tax increase was only about 2 percent.
Fairfield citizens deserve low, reasonable taxes coupled with level-headed spending, prolific but cost-sensible education, economic development balanced against Fairfield's communal identity, and a Fairfield that is affordable for all residents, including our seniors and soon-to-be retirees.
Prospective voters should compare the candidates' positions and prior history (if applicable) with their own expectations of Fairfield.
I encourage citizens tired of excessive tax increases and inefficient spending to vote for the Republican slate of candidates. For voters in District 7, please consider my candidacy for RTM, and review my biography and answers to the Fairfield Taxpayer's questionnaire at http://www.fairfieldtaxpayer.com.
