Letter: Local lawmakers silent on guns

It was reassuring to hear that upon being sworn in, Connecticut's freshman U.S. Senator, Chris Murphy vowed that it was his mission to strengthen gun control. He said he would be dedicated to it.

On the other hand, it's astounding and disturbing that Fairfield's state legislators -- including Tony Hwang, Kim Fawcett, Brenda Kupchick and John McKinney -- as of the writing of this letter have not issued position statements about addressing Connecticut's weak gun control laws. Not a peep. Nor is there anything about it on their websites.

It's about time they went on the record with very specific ideas and plans of action for what they think ought to be done to correct Connecticut's gun control problems.
