Letter: Murphy backs women's rights
Updated 11:40 am, Wednesday, October 17, 2012
Congressman Murphy believes in equality for all persons. He opposes the Blunt Amendment, which allows employers to deny women access to birth control and other preventative heathcare services like mammograms and cervical cancer screenings due to personal objections. Linda McMahon has proclaimed her support for the Blunt Amendment.
Congressman Murphy voted for both the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act to ensure that women make the same money for the same work. He is also steadfast in his support for efforts to reauthorize, improve and fund the Violence Against Women Act.
Congressman Murphy will fight any attempts to erode Roe v. Wade, while Linda McMahon will be another vote for the extreme Republican agenda. She has demonstrated year after year as chief executive officer of WWF and WWE that she approves of the degradation of women for entertainment's sake. Chris Murphy stands up for women's and all human rights. Chris Murphy has my vote for US Senate. Please join me in support of Congressman Murphy on Nov. 6.
