I would like to thank everyone involved in a fundraiser for the Ibanez family Dec. 11 at Chip's Family Restaurant.

Danny Ibanez became ill in June and has gone through multiple procedures and had many setbacks. He is blessed with a loving family and many friends. Danny has been unable to work since his illness, and caring for him has become his wife Sofia's full-time job. Sofia spent many months driving to hospitals but never gave up hope that Danny would one day recover. She has shown strength and is someone to admire

Thanks to Chip's owner George Chatzopoulos, who donated all of the food for the fundraiser.

The following schools were generous: Jennings, Fairfield Woods Middle, Fairfield Warde High and Stratfield. Sponsors who donated to the cause include: Tomis Electrical Contractors, Allwood Construction, Tony's Carting, Krasnow & Krasnow Attorneys at Law, Moore Physical Therapy & Fitness, Good Earth Tree, PT Plus LLC, Amie Lindwall-Belile Realtor, Crunch Fitness, Fuscaldo Buliders, Peter Kupchick Heating & Cooling Inc., The Small Jobs Company, F.M. Testani Inc, Allied Satellite, Pediatric Health Care Associates, Hands On Pottery, Fairfield Ludlowe Athletics, Collage Assistance Plus of Fairfield County, State Farm Jim Rottkamp Insurance Agent, Lupe's Pharmacy, The Sound Partners Real Estate,Weinstein Chiropractic, Fairfield Beach Residents Association, Carpet City, Blanchard Business Services, Beach Angels LLC, Vander-Built Construction and Tri-State Restorations. Also, Cindy Citrone for donating T-shirts.

The event sold out, and George opened another area at Chips to accommodate more people. By the end of the night we had raised an additional $2,000, making a grand total of about $8,745, including gift cards.

It shows the goodness in people when times are tough. I am proud to live in such a great community and blessed to have been a part of such a wonderful event. This has been a tough year, with the hurricane and now the unthinkable tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. But if we stand together and truly help one another, everything will work out in the end.
