Letter: Tetreau backs Vahey for 133rd District nod

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Cristin McCarthy Vahey, and I strongly support her candidacy for state representative for the 133rd District.
Cristin is an accomplished, principled leader with more than a decade of service to Fairfield both as community volunteer and in elected office. She has the powerful and nuanced grasp of public issues necessary for responsible leadership, while never losing the compassion and connection with her constituents that impel her to public service. I know how hard that is, and have great admiration for it.
Cristin has "walked the walk," actively listening to and advocating for her constituents, and -- the most important challenge -- carrying their needs through in public votes. She balances her commitment to her core beliefs with the realities of governance, having to consider difficult and perhaps unpopular decisions. She constantly seeks ways to make government better and has the courage to challenge the status quo when necessary.
Connecticut Democrats recently recognized Cristin by naming her co-chairman of their 2014 State Nominating Convention. In fact, Cristin's hard work, honesty and sense of fairness have earned the respect of colleagues and constituents in both parties.
Fairfield needs Cristin McCarthy Vahey in Hartford. Please join with me in supporting Cristin with your vote in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
