On May 27, Fairfield Warde High School student Lee Faiga was severely injured in a car accident. We, her friends and family, would like to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the first responders who were involved in her care.

From the moment they arrived on scene and to date, the Fairfield police have shown compassion and professionalism and, we suspect, have gone far over and above their call of duty. Trips for ice cream and deliveries of breakfast to the family’s home are likely not in their job description.

Specifically, we acknowledge lead investigator Officer Mark Letsch and Officers Mark Fracassini, Jim Pauciello, Sean Fenton, John Tyler, Ed Kovac and Evan Kaesmann, Sgts. Dan VanDerheyden, Frank DiMarco and Mike Paris, and Lts. Keith Broderick and Tom Mrozek for their assistance. We also thank Trumbull Police Officers Tommy Richards and Scott Thompson for their expertise.

We are especially grateful to Fairfield Fire Department Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood, Lt. Scott Trembley and Firefighters Corey Gripp, Ed Riggs, Joe Galla, Tim Ward, Dave Mitkowski and Greg Swindon, who extricated Lee from the vehicle, and AMR medics Patrick Riddle, Ryshon Penix, Anthony Daniele and James Beiger for their excellence in stabilizing, treating and transporting her to hospital.

Lee’s injuries are devastating, but she is battling. To all those who helped and continue to help her fight, to all those who have shown such remarkable love and support, and to all those whose prayers will surely be heard, thank you.
