Letter: Thoughts on school security

An open letter to Fairfield parents:
The Newtown tragedy has effected me in many ways, and like so many of my neighbors, I would like to do two things here in Fairfield.
First, I'd like to thank our town officials who, as my family and I were reeling from the tragedy, responded by helping to protect our kids. Second, I ask ask that the steps taken in crisis become part of a sustained and continuous program to improve school security.
I am asking the parents of Fairfield to join in thanking Superintendent of Schools David Title, our many principals and Chief of Police Gary MacNamara. I am also asking parents to join me and others in attending the Jan. 5 Board of Education meeting. Officials need to hear from us regarding any sustained programs.
My thoughts during the holiday season will be with the people of Newtown and my kids.
