On behalf of the Fairfield Fire Fighters Association Local 1426, I would like to thank everyone who came out to support our "Pancakes with a Purpose" event at Chip's Restaurant on September 10. Because of your generosity and support we were able to raise over $4,000 for the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital.

The burn center has recently undergone a complete top to bottom refurbishing to make it a state of the art facility and is the only burn center in Connecticut. The Fairfield Fire fighters Association has been raising funds in conjunction with the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut and the Stratford Fire Fighters Burn Foundation, for a family suite contained inside the burn center that will allow family members to stay, free of charge, at the hospital with their loved ones while they are recovering from their injuries. The suite is nearly completed and came out fantastic.

With our efforts at the pancake dinner and our annual Santa Ride, the Fairfield Fire Fighters are happy to say that we have been able to raise and donate over $9,000 this year to this very special project. We look forward to continuing to support the fine work that the nurses and doctors at Connecticut Burn Center do every day. You are truly all very special people.

Finally, this project would have fallen well short of our goal had it not been for the fine people at Chip's Family Restaurant in Fairfield. George, I cannot thank you and your staff enough for the support you have shown us. You opened up your restaurant to our cause, and your wonderful staff worked hand in hand with us to make sure our event was a huge success. We made some new friends and developed a relationship that will help to benefit our community in the future. On behalf of our entire organization, I say, "Thank you."

The Fire Fighters in Fairfield take our role in the community very seriously, and we will continue to work to keep the citizens out our fine town safe while we are on duty, but more importantly we will also continue to raise money for our many charities while off duty.

Once again thank you for your support.

Bob Smith, president
