Local FEMA office changing role to loan center

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Disaster Recovery Center at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace, will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Beginning Thursday, however, a Disaster Loan Outreach Center will open at the same location and include representatives from the Small Business Administration along with one FEMA representative. The new office will remain open until further notice and will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be closed Christmas and New Year's days.

Deadlines for filing applications for FEMA or SBA loans have been extended to Jan. 28, 2013.
