The Fairfield Ludlowe boys indoor track team, led by strong individual performances from junior, Mike Frasco, and senior, Tyler Schwarz, took the lead for good over the last four events at the 2011 FCIAC Central Division meet and racked up 139 points to take home the FCIAC Central Division title for the second straight year and second time ever.

The Falcons bested second place Ridgefield (118 points) and third-place Norwalk (108). Ludlowe came from behind as both the Tigers and Bears led at different points in the meet.

Frasco was the meet MVP, taking first place in all three distance events, the 1,000-, 1,600-, and 3,200-meter runs, to score 30 points for the Falcons. Schwarz scored 21.5 points by winning the 50- and 300-meter dashes, and tying for 5th in the High Jump. Ludlowe also took first in the Sprint Medley and 4x400 Relays. Junior Andrew Fernandes was a key member of both of these relay teams, and also took second place in the 600, shaving three seconds off his previous best in a hard fought race.

Other top performances include third-place in the 300 by senior, Brendan Deely, and second and third places in the long jump by seniors, Tom Hammons and Evan Jacobs. Overall, it was a great team effort, and many team members achieved new personal bests in spirited competitions to make their own contributions to the scoring. Complete summary below.

Ludlowe will compete on tomorrow at the FCIAC Championship meet, and at the CIAC Class L Championship meet on Friday, Feb 11. Both events are at the New Haven Athletic Center.
