Morris Sunshine, D.M.D., 89, a resident of Fairfield for the past 49 years, died Feb. 23, 2010, at The Jewish Home for the Elderly.
Born in New York, N.Y., a son of the late Rubin and Bella (Goldstein) Sunshine, he was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel for nearly 52 years. As a dentist and licensed pharmacist, Sunshine was devoted to his dental practice and cared lovingly for his patients for more than 50 years. Sunshine's greatest love was his children and family.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Silverstein Sunshine of Fairfield; his children, Jeffrey Sunshine, D.M.D., J.D., and his wife, Suzanne Fields, M.D., of New York; Beverly Goodkind and her husband, Neil Goodkind, D.M.D., of Fairfield; Mark Sunshine, J.D., and his wife, Christy Mc Elheny, J.D., of Florida; his grandchildren, Jennifer (and the late Matthew) Sunshine, Elyse Goodkind, James, Ryan and Madison Sunshine; his sisters-in-law, Ellin Sunshine (and late brother Daniel) of Oxford, and Eleanor Silverstein; and several nieces and nephews.
Services took place Feb. 25 from Congregation B'nai Israel in Bridgeport; interment followed at B'nai Israel Cemetery on Moose Hill Road in Monroe. Shiva will be observed at the Sunshine residence today, Feb. 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m.
