Bryce J. Smith, 23, tried to choke another family member Wednesday after a day of working together on snow-shoveling jobs, police said.
According to the report, the relative was giving Smith a ride in his pickup truck, and offered to drop him off at Coolidge Street in Bridgeport so Smith could walk home, because he had other snow-clearing jobs to do. Smith, however, refused to get out, but on Commerce Street, the relative stopped at Fiske Street, again offering Smith an opportunity to get out of the truck, according to the report.
Instead, police said, Smith tried to choke the driver and interfered with his attempts to call 911. He then left the truck and was found by officers walking on Commerce Drive.
Smith, who lives on Orland Street in Bridgeport, told police it was the driver who instigated the fight, adding that, "I jacked him up."
He was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to have appeared Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
