Jesse Suchocki, 32, of Woodfield Drive in Shelton, faces a drunken-driving charge following a two-car accident Tuesday night.
Police said Suchocki drove through a red traffic light on Tunxis Hill Road, striking a car that was westbound on Villa Avenue. Suchocki and the other driver exchanged information, but he left before police arrived.
Officer located him at a home on Soundview Avenue, the address of the registered owner of the car. Suchocki insisted he had a green traffic light when the accident took place. Police detected an odor of alcohol and learned Suchocki's license had been suspended since June 3, 2011. He failed field sobriety tests, police said, and was charged with driving under the influence, failing to stop for a red light and operating with a suspended license.
Bond was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear Oct. 1 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
