Brian W. Quinn, 47, of Lee Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to drive right, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to carry insurance after police said he hit the railroad overpass on North Benson Road shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police received a call about the driver of a black Cadillac that nearly sideswiped several cars while leaving Interstate 95 at Exit 22. A second caller reported the same car hit the highway overpass and continued driving toward the Old Post Road.

When stopped, officers said there was a strong odor of alcohol on Quinn's breath, and his car had incurred damage on the right front side. He was unable to perform field-sobriety tests, police said.

He was released on a $50 bond and scheduled to appear March 22 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
