A 51-year-old Bridgeport man was charged Wednesday stealing a bicycle from the Fairfield Metro train station.
A witness called police to report that a man, later identified as Jorge Ramirez, of Lee Avenue in Bridgeport, was taking a bike from the depot. He had been previously been seen looking into a nearby driveway, according to the report. He rode off on the bike, and was seen throwing something onto the ground, which turned out to be a pair of bolt cutters, police said.
Officers located Ramirez on Black Rock Turnpike and took him into custody, charging him with sixth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear Sept. 30 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Ramirez denied being involved in a bike theft from a New England Avenue home a few hours earlier.
