Thomas Bryan, 48, of Shelton was charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary.

He was the driver in a September incident that involved the attempted theft of a motorized scooter from a Morehouse Drive garage, police said. At the time, the homeowner came home and saw a man running down the hill carrying something. The scooter was later found in the woods along with a leaf blower. The suspect left in a red Honda driven by another man that was later traced back to Bryan., police said.

Bryan was spotted Thursday in Stratford by police who had him under surveillance and was taken into custody. Police later recovered 29 items believed to have been stolen, according to the report.

He was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 26 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
