A 21-year-old Oxford man was arrested on a warrant Saturday night, charged with harassing an ex-girlfriend.

Matthew J. Moran, of Hickory Lane in Oxford, was picked by Ansonia police and turned over to Fairfield police. He was charged with second-degree harassment and threatening.

In February, Moran’s ex-girlfriend, a Fairfield resident, called police to report that he had called her, saying that he wanted to get back together, according to the report. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to “chop up” her family, police said.

At time, the woman asked that Moran be warned to have no contact with her, which police said he was. However, police learned of other incidents with Moran, including an incident in which he allegedly hit her and broke her phone. According to the report, Moran admitted to police that he broke the phone and threatened her.

Moran was held on a court-set bond of $25,000 and scheduled to appear Monday at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
