Patrick Clough, 24, was charged with third-degree assault after police said he head-butted a roommate during a dispute at their Hulls Highway address Wednesday night.

Clough suddenly head-butted Robert Onthank, 23, breaking some of Onthank's teeth during an argument between Onthank and his brother, police said. He also allegedly punched Onthank several times in the head and body, while Onthank said he hit Clough in retaliation.

Police said Clough appeared to be under the influence of an undetermined substance, and was uncooperative and shouted at officers dispatched to the scene.

In addition to assault, Clough was charged with disorderly conduct. Onthank also was charged with disorderly conduct.

Onthank was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court, while Clough was held on a $500 bond. Both were scheduled to have appeared in court Thursday.
