Taylor owns and lives at the property at 2940 Redding Road, a portion of which he rents to the nursery, and police said, there is a "contentious" relationship between the parties.
Police said Taylor apparently felt an employee did not act quickly enough when he asked the worker to move one of the nursery's trailers. When Taylor began moving the trailer himself with a bucket loader, the worker climbed onto the vehicle to ask Taylor what he was doing, the report states.
Taylor then punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, police said. The worker also told police he feared that Taylor was trying to run him over.
Taylor first told police the employee hit him in the face with a cell phone, and then said the cell phone came near his face. The employee said he had been using the phone to try to record the incident.
Taylor was issued a summons for third-degree assault and released on a promise to appear Sept. 2 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
