Evan Driscoll, 40, of Stratford, was charged with sixth-degree larceny around 9 p.m. Thursday after he was seen pushing a full shopping cart down Tunxis Hill Road.
Police found that Driscoll did not have a receipt for the items, which included a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper and two blueberry bushes, one large and one small. The stolen merchandise was valued at $233.96, police said.
The merchandise apparently was stolen from Super Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave., police said. Driscoll initially told the officer an employee gave him permission to transport the shopping cart off-site.
He was released on a promise to appear July 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
