An Unquowa Road man faces charges after police said he walked into Robeks, 1983 Post Road, on Saturday evening and demanded money from the cashier.
Douglas Campbell, 52, entered the store with his hand covering his mouth and then demanded that the teenage cashier give him $18 in cash to repair a pipe at his home. The cashier said she was intimidated and frightened by Campbell, and counted out $18 from the tips jar. Before leaving, Campbell allegedly said he would be back.
The cashier took down the license plate number on Campbell's car and contacted police. An officer was waiting outside Robeks in a marked patrol car around 6:45 p.m. when Campbell returned and got out of his car waving a $20 bill, according to the report.
Campbell was taken into custody and charged with sixth-degree larceny and breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear Oct. 30 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
