Clive Haynes, of Cowing Court, Stamford, was been charged with trying to extort money from an ex-girlfriend by threatening to post pictures and videos online if she did not pay him money he said he was owed, police said.

Haynes was charged Monday with attempt to commit first-degree larceny, second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.

Haynes called his ex-girlfriend on her cell phone while she was at work in Fairfield and also texted her, threatening to kill her family and to post online pictures and videos, according to the police report.

The ex-girlfriend, who is 21 and also lives in Stamford, reportedly stopped speaking to Haynes two months ago, police said. Haynes was involved in an earlier incident regarding the victim in Stamford, police said, and the ex-girlfriend told police she fears for her safety.

Police located Haynes at his Stamford address and he was taken into custody without incident. He was released after posting a $25,000 and was scheduled to have appeared Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
