Kevin Jones, 21, of Farmington, was charged on a warrant Thursday at Bridgeport Superior Court, with passing two counterfeit bills in Fairfield earlier this year.

Jones was charged with two counts each of first-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny and held on a $10,000 bond.

According to police, Jones use a fake $50 bill on Jan. 28 to pay for a $4.99 car wash at Russell Speeder's on Villa Avenue. It is a practice of the car wash to write the date and license plate number on any $50 or $100 bills used at there, according to the report.

Jone returned to the car wash Feb. 14 and again used another fake $50 bill.

During the investigation, police detectives determined that bills bearing the exact same serial number had been used on eight different occasions.
