Evangilino Gomes, 41, of Sylvan Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with violating a protective order Saturday night when he allegedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend at a local bar.

Police received a 911 call from the woman who said Gomes grabbed her arm while she was dancing at O Bar, 52 Sanford St., around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police also got a call, on the department's non-emergency number, from Gomes who said he went to the bar, saw the former girlfriend and, because of the protective order, then left.

A witness, however, confirmed the woman's story, and Gomes was taken into custody. Police said it was the third time Gomes had violated the protective order.

He was released after posting a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to have appeared Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
