A 36-year-old man was charged early last Friday with violating an active protective order.

Christopher R. Freer, 36, of West Road, Ansonia, was held on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear at state Superior Court in Bridgeport later that day.

Police received a call from Freer’s sister, for whom the order was issued, around 1:30 a.m. Friday, reporting that he had shown up at the Colonnese Road home about an hour earlier, and according to the report, became embroiled in a verbal argument between the sister and his mother. Freer’s mother then drove him home to Ansonia.

An officer went to Freer’s home in Ansonia, and he allegedly admitted to being at the Fairfield home earlier. He told police he often visits and didn’t realize it was in violation of the protective order, according to the report.
