David Ingraham, 69, of Milford was stopped by police Saturday night when he was spotted driving down the Post Road as sparks flared from two tire-less wheel rims, according to the report.

Ingraham told officers he did not know what happened to the two tires on the passenger side of his car, police said, and initially said he was heading to Milford and later said he was heading for Huntington.

Police believe he had been involved in an accident somewhere, but were not able to determine where.

He failed field sobriety tests, according to the report, and was charged with driving under the influence.

Ingraham, who lives on Viscount Drive in Milford, was released on a $100 bond. He is scheduled to appear Nov. 18 in state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
