Man faces assault, breach-of-peace charges

Carlos Guzman, 20, of Congress Street, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace Sunday after he punched another man in the face, police said.

Police received a call from the victim, who said he was punched in the face by Guzman in the parking lot of the Mobil station on Stratfield Road. He also said Guzman had thrown rocks at his car.

Guzman told police that he didn't know why the victim had approached him and thought he was going to fight, so he punched him first.

Guzman was released on a promise to appear Aug. 8 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
